Infant formula powders recalled over salmonella fears

Batches of Elecare Similac and Alimentum Similac infant formula powders have been recalled by the manufacturer Abbott because of fears they may be contaminated with salmonella.

Abbott advised anyone who has bought the products from a pharmacy or other outlet not to feed it to their baby and return it to the place where it was purchased.

No other nutritional or Similac products manufactured by Abbott and distributed in the UK are affected.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has urged healthcare professionals to contact everyone who has been dispensed the affected batches which are listed on the Food Standards Agency's website.
